Position Overview

Baby2Baby is seeking a dynamic and highly organized Senior Manager of Special Projects to support the organization during a pivotal period of growth and transition. This role will initially serve as a sixth-month strategic backfill during the Chief of Staff’s maternity leave, providing continuity of executive operations and serving as a key liaison between the Co-CEOs and all departments. Following the initial engagement, this individual will transition into a longer-term role focused on supporting cross department collaboration—driving high-priority initiatives, managing cross-functional projects, and helping the organization scale its impact.

This is an exciting opportunity for an entrepreneurial, mission-driven professional to contribute at the highest levels of a nationally recognized nonprofit. The role will work Monday–Friday at 5830 W. Jefferson Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90016, with a minimum of three days per week on-site and occasional weekend hours.

Phase 1: Maternity Leave Coverage (Months 1–6)

During the initial phase, the Senior Manager of Special Projects will assume Chief of Staff responsibilities, including:

  • Supports the Co-CEOs in managing day-to-day operations, ensuring continuity and organizational effectiveness.
  • Serves as a communications bridge between the Co-CEOs and internal departments, tracking deliverables and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Prioritizes, schedules, and manages key internal and external meetings, agendas, and action items in partnership with the Co-CEO Executive Assistant.
  • Runs point on executive board meetings: scheduling, information gathering, presentation deck preparation and editing.
  • Supports the Development team, project managing the capital campaign, ensuring all aspects are on track and communicated to stakeholders.
  • Supports the annual Gala and other key organizational events.
  • Oversees and collaborates with the Executive Assistant to ensure executive office functions run smoothly.

Phase 2: Special Projects (Month 6 Onward)

Upon the Chief of Staff’s return, the Senior Manager of Special Projects will transition to supporting special projects and long-term growth priorities of the organization, including but not limited to:

  • Supports existing or leads new cross-department project teams to drive initiatives from ideation through execution.
  • Develops and maintains project plans, tracking milestones, identifying risks, and reporting progress to leadership.
  • Conducts research and analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Supports new program development, partnerships, and expansion efforts as directed by leadership.
  • Collaborates with the Chief of Staff to improve processes and optimize organizational effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5–8 years of experience in a strategy, project management, chief of staff, or related business management role.
  • Proven track record of managing complex, cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong executive presence with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Strategic thinker who is equally comfortable with execution and getting things done.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented, and adept at building relationships across departments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a nonprofit environment, particularly in development or operations.
  • Background in strategic planning, management consulting, or a high-growth organizational setting.
  • Familiarity with capital campaigns, events management, or government relations.
