About The Role

Our firm is partnering with a global leader in the powersports and premium vehicle manufacturing industry to identify a Color Mastering Specialist. This role sits at the intersection of design and manufacturing and plays a critical part in ensuring visual excellence and material consistency across high-quality consumer products. The position is embedded within a CMF & Graphics organization that values precision, collaboration, and brand integrity.

This is a highly visual, detail-driven role ideal for someone who thrives in cross-functional environments and enjoys translating design intent into manufacturable, production-ready solutions.

Job Description

The Color Mastering Specialist is responsible for ensuring visual color accuracy and surface finish consistency across all A-surface materials. This role serves as a key bridge between design, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to validate alignment across color, gloss, texture, and finish.

The specialist manages color mastering from early CMF design handoff through production sign-off, ensuring standards are clearly established, documented, and maintained for scalable execution.

Responsibilities Include

  • Manage the color mastering process from CMF design handoff through production approval for all A-surface materials
  • Lead physical sample reviews and visual alignment sessions across paint, plastics, graphics, fabrics, metals, and vinyl
  • Create, maintain, and control master color and finish standards (e.g., paint chips, texture plaques, vinyl samples)
  • Validate consistency of color, gloss, texture, and finish across materials and suppliers
  • Partner with suppliers and internal teams to resolve visual quality and color-matching issues efficiently
  • Maintain a physical and visual library of approved finishes for cross-functional reference
  • Collaborate closely with CMF design, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supplier partners to ensure alignment and manufacturability
  • Support testing of new color technologies, finishes, and material innovations in coordination with R&D
  • Document approvals, standards, and decisions to support repeatable and scalable processes

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Materials Engineering, Color Science, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in color development, material specification, or color quality control
  • Strong visual sensitivity to color, gloss, texture, and finish across varied lighting conditions
  • Hands-on experience evaluating paints, plastics, decals, fabrics, and soft goods from a visual quality perspective
  • Working knowledge of color-matching processes, master panel development, and manufacturing tolerances
  • Strong communication and documentation skills with the ability to lead reviews and work directly with suppliers
  • Experience using visual evaluation tools such as light booths, gloss meters, and spectrophotometers
  • Demonstrated reliability and follow-through
  • Strong team collaboration skills
  • Clear and effective communication abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in CMF Design or a closely related discipline
  • Experience within automotive, powersports, or consumer product manufacturing environments
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Exposure to supplier management and cross-regional manufacturing environments
