Accounting Manager (Path to Controller)- MUST HAVE Financial Services, Securities or banking Exp

We are seeking an experienced Accounting manager to lead financial operations for a growing, mid‑sized financial services firm operating within a regulated securities environment . This role offers a defined path to Controller , with responsibility spanning operational accounting, financial reporting (FINOPS), controls, and executive support.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on finance leader who combines strong technical accounting skills with the ability to partner closely with leadership on strategy and growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Own financial operations (FINOPS) including GL, month‑end close, and reporting
• Oversee accounts payable, payroll, commissions, and expense management
• Prepare management reports and financial statements
• Maintain and enhance internal controls and financial processes
• Support audits, compliance requirements, and operational requests
• Partner with executives on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow
• Assist in scaling finance infrastructure and reporting
• Participate in succession planning toward CFO

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
• Experience at the Controller or senior accounting leadership level
• Financial services or securities industry experience strongly preferred
• Strong QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills
• Payroll and commission accounting experience
• Willingness to complete a FINOPS assessment/test
• Clean background check and fingerprinting required
